  • Embarrassment

    25th July 2008 Friday

People often come to Pharmacy and asked for unexpected products: XX pads, bubble duck...

It is often embarrassing that failing to deal with customer's request in some situation.

A man came into pharmacy and asked for KJ Gel this afternoon.

My senior mentioned, " If you don't understand the item, just ask 'what is it for?'"

Luckily I didn't ask him this time, but I knew what KJ Gel is after the man stepped out the pharmacy.

I will definitely beware of what I should say in the Pharmacy.

A woman came in and asked for particular laxative.

Me, "Have you used it before?"

Her face told me she's unpleasant with my questioning.

I am really innocent, I didn't offend her delibrately, indeed this is the question that I have to ask...

  • Joke

    30th May, 2008 (Friday)

Having a birthday lunch with Justin, I got a big and a small presents from him...

    then working in the pharmacy.

Mr Morgan (Pharmacist)," Are you using a broomstick to back to HK? "

    Me, "Broomstick?  What is broomstick?"

Mr Morgan, "Do you know broom? Swipe the floor..."

Me, " I see, it's a joke... you are talking about a witch!"

In fact, he is not delibrately to be sarcastic.

True, having jokes sometimes can make people happy.

    31st May, 2008 (Saturday)

Interesting converstion in Ming Court last night

Justin," Prawn crackers are swimming to your table...."

Justin, "A chicken has two wings only... you have to order one more serve."

He is a potential joker with a great sense of humour. Aussie Borned Chinese is really atypical.

Another dialogue regarding the Ming Deluxe Fried Rice...

Lily (Female boss), " more colour... not enough colour..."  Daniel (Boss), "More colour next time!!!"

I kept losing my mind and was distracted for the whole night!

They all add different colours in my monotonous tassie life.

  • YESTERDAY

Working alone in the Ming Court on last Sunday and Tuesday. It's quiet, which makes me dream almost for the whole night...  Wipping menus, folding serviettes, and filling drinks... What else can I do? I cannot stand there and do nothing. Jogging around the restaurant is better than standing in one spot and doing nothing, isn't it?

Meeting Ally quite often in Ming Court recently, she came with her sister and celebrated her sister's birthday, and another customer got his birthday coincidentally. Many people had their birthday, my birthday is also coming soon...

    LAST WEEK

Mel (St John)," If you don't come next week, I will bring the cake the week after. You can't avoid the cake."

Me," I am not avoiding the cake..." Finally I still have to go to the bowling tonight.  I'm really pleased with what she said...

    TODAY

Opening the letter box before having lunch with Xiao Dan, Oh... it's a birthday card- not surprisingly, is it from John? He asked me my mail address last week. Look carefully, my goodness, it's Mike... He makes me feel really bad not to reply his mail.

  • St John Ambulance (Tas) Adult competitions 2008

Living in Australia for six years, what I feel ashamed is I am still not good at getting along with Australians...

Australians, "No worries, no worries..." but I always have too much worries hanging on my face.

Joining a first aid competition indeeds a good practice to my first knowledge practically. Studying the book well does not mean you can perform.

Lara and I are the faulding pairs in the St John Ambulance (Tas) Adult competition . We were asked to set up a first aid room, three casualties presented with finger cut, asthma and perhaps angina/ heat exhaustion.

What? everyone was stared at with my shaking hands when I applied the adhesive dressing on the casualty's cuted finger.  I didn't share my hands delibrately, this is out of my control...

The silly things I did was unaware of the Ventolin present inside the first aid kits and moving rubbish bin in the first aid room as well...

Eventually we still achieved the standard and got the first place in the Faulding pairs. In fact, we were the only team in this pairs.

Aussie, "You are doing well..."  They hardly criticized.

  • Retail

Pharmacy and Restaurant are both retails.

Working in a pharmacy is quite different from working in a restaurant.

I don't have any problems with food, but I have hurdles with the medications.

Working in this pharmacy as if going back to the old days- the shop has not been computerized.

There is no barcode to record all the items and medications in the computer, that even creating a greater challenge to hunt a specific items around the shop...

Bear in mind that always keeping my eyes on for the last items on the shelf. Once it has run out, don't forget to record it on note pad manually...

Do open your big eyes and ears to the customers as well.

Um...Any counselling points to the patients? which always make me feel guilty, this is still beyond my capability so far...
